Senior Photos at Fossil Creek Park, Fort Collins, CO

April 23, 2026

We had a great time recently capturing these senior photos at Fossil Creek Park in Fort Collins, Colorado. The family lives just outside the park and frequently visits it, so they were aware of the many photo opportunities it has. Opportunities such as a natural rock bridge through cattails next to Portner Reservoir, as well as a modern steel bridge. We captured some great photos at both of these bridges.

At Fossil Creek Park, there’s a bench positioned so someone can sit facing east for great sunset pictures or facing west for sunrise pictures. We also took advantage of this bench to get some fun photos. I brought my strobe to compete with the sun and brighten my senior, without blowing out the sunset. Our senior photo shoot was scheduled at 6pm, so I had my subject face east away from the setting sun.

There are also several natural rocks to sit on or lean against at Fossil Creek Park in Fort Collins. There are also concrete mammoth tusks that form an arch, as well as some that form a shelter. The tusk arch we took advantage of and got some fun shots with. Although we didn’t go there, there’s also a stone wall one could use as a backdrop, interesting vertical steel pipes one could lean against, and large rocks next to the lake one could sit on for a variety of poses.

Young or old, any photographer would appreciate playful photos of someone on the large tortoise sculptures. Of course, there’s the occasional tree one could lean against. Not to mention big open spaces for those uncluttered photos.
